The Guardian 99/365

There is only one thing that Baby Girl loves more than flowers, and that is animals. She especially loves her "dog-doog," Yogi. Or as she calls him "Oh-gee."

Yogi is supposed to be the goat guardian. He watches over them at night, barking all night ling to let anything that would want to mess with them know that he will not allow it. He also keeps an eye on the goats all day and herds them out of areas he doesn't like them in. He keeps a very good eye on his goats.

But Yogi also thinks he's the guardian of the house and everyone in the house. When the UPS man comes Yogi chases the truck all the way down the driveway. When we go for a walk Yogi goes with us, no matter how far we go, and always keeps us in his sight.  And when we are all home safe he lays in front of the house guarding it.

Yogi is always wonderful with the baby. He follows her around and keeps her away from the edge of the porch. He keeps on eye on her when she's out with the goats, and he checks on her when she is out side playing.  I think he thinks she's one of his goats.

Baby Girl loves her Yogi. She will follow him anywhere and loves giving him kisses and hugs. When she can't be outside with him she loves looking at pictures of him, which she is doing right now.

I'm so thankful that Baby Girl is getting to grow up with all these animals. She loves them so much and they are all really good with her. I'm also very thankful for such a good dog like Yogi to keep an eye on her.

Blood and Birthdays 98/365

Today William gave blood. He's got really special blood that they always want so they asked him to give a little extra.

It's been a long time since I've seen any one give blood, but it seems to have gotten a lot fancier! They have such cool machines now.

This machine takes the blood out, separates it from the plasma, and then puts the plasma back into William! In the end they have a nice bag full of red blood cells and they can take a little more than usual because they put the plasma back. And, since they processed the blood as it was being taken out, it will be ready to be used in accident victims and cancer patients tomorrow! Crazy!

Bonnie Rose thought it was great fun. She enjoyed smiling at all the friendly people.

"Look at my sticker"

Today was also Bonita Rose's 18month Birthday. My baby girl is a year and a half. How did it go by so fast! She was such a little tiny baby ...

And now she's such a big girl.

For her mini birthday we had a tea party. We all put on dress up clothes and tiaras, except William who wore a Bowler hat, and Nana made peanut butter cookies.

We got out my little tea cups from when I was a kid and they were the prefect size for Bonnie Rose.

She was so excited to have her who tea cup to drink out of.
Such a good little girl. Even has her pinkie finger up, her Daddy taught her that.
She drank two whole cups of tea before she even realized there were cookies to be played with. I'm so proud of my little darling and I'm looking forward to many more tea parties to come.

A Day of Celebrations 97/365

Today was Palm Sunday. I have loved Palm Sunday since I was a little girl. One year my mom bought me two new dresses right before Easter. I saved the fanciest one for Easter and wore the pail blue one on Palm Sunday.   I was part of a dance performance at church  and the dress had a full skirt that made turning and twirling extra fun.

Growing up in a protestant church means that Palm Sunday is a Sunday of joyful songs full of "Hosannas" and sometimes even waving of palm branches.  It made for a very fun church service.

Since we have been going to a Catholic Church recently I was very excited to see what the service would be like.  It was very different from any other Palm Sunday service I've been to but it was very fun.

At the door they gave us palm leaves and then after everyone was quietly seating the Priest told us that we were all going to go outside for the blessing of the palms and for the procession into the church.

Outside the Priest blessed the palms and sprinkled us all with holy water and then prayed and read the bible.  And then the whole congregation marched into the church whole the choir lead us singing.
The blessing of the palms
Baby was very somber
The service was very different from any other Palm Sunday service I've been to. It was very reverent and a little somber. It was also different from all the other Masses we've been to. There was no homily (mini sermon) but instead the whole congregation stood for a long reading from the Bible.  There were also several more kneeling and standing times than usual and a few different responsive readings. I really loved the service. It made me think about Palm Sunday and the up coming passion week in a new way.

After the service we were all allowed to take our palms home. Everyone keeps them until next year. Just before Ash Wednesday every one brings them back to church and they are burned to make the ashes that are put on the forehead.
We put our palms in a vase for safe keeping till next year
The rest of our day was spent out side enjoying the wonderful spring weather.
William and Baby work in the garden
On top of being Palm Sunday it was also the night that Upstairs Downstairs was on TV, on PBS.  I really love British dramas and I've been totally excited about this show. Especially since I loved Downton Abby much but the next season won't be released till next fall.

To celebrate this fun show we decided to have a tea party. We made cucumber sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, and salmon and cream cheese sandwiches. All Gluten Free of course. We also made Earl Grey tea, decaf of course... it's and evening show.
We enjoyed our wonderful tea time dinner and then enjoyed watching our British TV show.  We even had ginger snap cookies with our tea, which of course we called biscuits since it was a British themed evening.

The whole day was absolutely perfect.

Work Day 94/365

Happy Thursday! Thursdays are always my most productive day.  Today my crazy baby slept till NOON! When she FINALLY got up we went outside and she lazed around with the dog while I made lunch.
Then we vacuumed and mopped the floor while Nana mowed the lawn...
And William repaired the goat fence that a tree fell over on.
Also, the flowers starting to bloom. They are amazing. I'm in awe of the spring colors in this area.
It was a very busy and productive day for every one. Now we're all going to take an aspirin and go to bed.

Wagon Ride 93/365

Yard work can be so much fun. Especially when Daddy is driving.
In the fall we'll put hay in it and have a hay ride.

Cribs 92/365

Baby Girl doesn't sleep in a crib. She never has. From the day she was born she slept in our bed, and often in my arms. It works great for night nursing. She gets to nurse and I get to sleep.

When we decided to move back to the US my mom bought a crib and put it in our room. I think she's slept in it 3 times during nap time.  She's not a huge fan of it. Sometimes I can get to play in it for a few minutes while I brush my teeth or something, but for the most part she really doesn't like being in.  I've been trying to figure out different ways to help her like it.

Tonight I tried something a little different, and maybe a bit unorthodox...
I thought if we spent time together in the crib that maybe she would like it a little better. We cuddled and nursed and kissed the lama and I even gave her a little foot rub.
I'm not sure if this will help her like it any better, but at least she seemed to think it was fun. She even asked William to get in with us. Of course he did not and then baby wanted out. But at least we had a fun time together.
And now we know that I fit in the crib.  Even if Baby doesn't like it maybe I can use it if I want my own sleeping space when my two lovely red heads are taking up the whole bed.
