25 days of Ornaments: Day 4

When I became Catholic I used to joke that it was because they had so many more holidays and feast days and that I was just doing it for the parties and celebrations.  While it was technectly a joke, I really do enjoy all the excuses to celebrate.

I love throwing parties and celebrating even the smallest thing. Heck, once I even invented a holiday with my brother called Chronoheximatica! (That was a holiday that only lasted for one second on 01/02/03 04:05:06)
This is why I always tell William that Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony is my spirit animal.

Her special power is laughter and she loves to celebrate.  She once threw a surprise party for any holiday she might have forgotten or didn't know about yet. That's so great!

So obviously when William say this Pinkie Pie with a Santa hat he knew he had to get it for me.

He knows I'm crazy, and he's ok with that.

25 Days of Ornaments : Day 3

Do you know what an alicorn is?  Do you know the difference between a unicorn and a Pegasus? Rosie does. She knows all about unicorn mythology.  She has watched every episode of the new (not the 80s one) My Little Pony show and can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about ponies.

She's also got a very active imagination and loves to pretend that she is an alicorn. That's a winged unicorn, by the way.
Pretty much she's obsessed with all things unicorn.

That's why the perfect ornament for Rosie this year was a unicorn ornament.

25 days of Ornaments: Day 2

Tonight's ornament is Obi's for 2015. It's a little wooden robot.

We got this for Obi because he loves robots so much. Several of his favorite books are about robots.
He was also the Tin Man this year for Halloween, which is kind like a robot, and the heart on the ornament reminded me of the Tin Man.

Also. Obi is obsessed with circuit boards and really wants to build one.
I told him he has to wait for Aunty Julie and Uncle Kipp to come teach him how to do that. He wants to build a fan.
And a robot.

25 days of Ornaments

I can not believe it's been a whole year since I've blogged.  This year has really flown by. To help me get back to it I thought I'd do a little blurb on one Christmas ornament every day.
Let's see how it goes.

This is our newest ornament for our newest baby. Margaret learned to walk this year. She started walking at 9 months old and is so stable on her feet now that she runs everywhere. She is definately my earliest walker.

I thought this little sparkly pink shoe was perfect for her.

Margaret also has very good taste and loves pretty shoes. She often asks for her favorite shoes to be put in her. Even if it's only one of them. Most days she walks around the house with one shoe on.

Estate Sale Finds

I've discovered I love estate sales.
Here are our great finds from our first one.

For my vanity / makeup table.

I have always loved red dishes!

I've always wanted a soup terrine !!

You can never have too many Christmas dishes.

It's coming along!

It's taken several tries but I think we have the living room colors picked out
(It's more peach than pink but it looks different depending on the lighting)

And today the new carpet went in our bedroom. My mom was frantically trying to finish the painting in the bedroom before the carpet came.
The kids love how soft and fluffy the new carpet is.

It feels so good to have one room almost completely done.

We also bought a new wreath for the house.

8 months old

Today Baby Margaret turned 8 months old.

She also had her first bit of baby food.

She really wasn't so sure she liked it.
But she asked for more anyway.
Happy 8 month Birthday my silly little baby.

Jane Austen Tea Party

Today the kids and I got together with some friends and had a Jane Austen themed tea party.

I made some bookmarks and homemade vanilla as take home gifts and through together some decorations.

Then we packed up all our tea cups and headed to our friends' house.

My mother in law gave me some Austen themed cook books as well as this tea tower. Both were put to good use.

Everyone seemed have a nice time. A lunch of all sweets probably helped.

Obi and Margaret enjoyed extra special attention

We all had fun and then we were ready for a nap.
The food, the tea, the theme, the book discussions were all perfect. But the best part was spending time with good friends. I can't wait till we can do it again.
